Ancient Egyptian Music

The music of ancient Egypt was a big part of everyday life. It was in almost every aspect of Egyptian life. Many of the musicians were women which was second in status only to royalty. The lute, lyre, and harp were the most popular Egyptian instruments.

 

The picture to the right is a picture of an ancient Egyptian lute. The lute is the ancient version of the guitar. It had many strings - far different than the six strings of the guitar.
